The best thing to do right now is find spots for improvement internally and externally through your business.
Welcome January! As I sit back and think about how we ended 2021, followed by frantically getting through a busy holiday season. I am reflecting back on how we have managed to navigate a difficult season. Without a doubt everyone has a version of what that means to them. Taking time to reflect always gives me room to look ahead. Right now I find myself focusing my attention on what is to come in 2022. The best thing to do right now is finding spots for improvement internally and externally through your business, the two biggest issues businesses are finding right now is labor shortages and lacking supply chains.
Due to Covid and variants, it doesn’t look like that situation will go away anytime soon. As a business owner the best thing to do is to communicate to your employees that you’re staying up to date on the latest info before finalizing any safety plans. Reiterate to your employees the safety plans currently used at the workplace.
A big fear for CEO’s currently is continuing to recruit and retain new employees; half of businesses surveyed by the BDC have problems finding qualified employees, the accommodation and food service industries are predicted to be hit the hardest. Many employees that have lost their job or were being held off have now seen the many ways of making money online and getting a sustainable income. Many employees would much rather stay home and work online as apposed to leaving their home/apartment and waiting in traffic or hopping on a train for 2 hours/day. Employees love the flexibility they have working online that wasn’t available in their previous job.
Some next steps for 2022 would include being very flexible, consider not relying on specific dates for different goals, rather be ready to change plans rapidly. The world is still changing very quickly, and we don’t have all the final answers yet. Using this opportunity to overview your business model and find weak points or areas that can be improved upon to make key elements faster, more effective, & higher quality, may be the step up you have been looking for. I suggest digitalizing as much of your business as possible; using things like QR codes or ordering online can make a huge difference in your business in times like these. If you haven’t already, I suggest taking advantage of social media as well, be active on any platform that you can correlate to your business model. Don’t be one of those people who wait for things to go back to “normal” because this is the new normal, by the time we beat this pandemic the world is going to look very different from the way it was when the pandemic started.
We have seen the ups and downs of the pandemic the last couple years and we need to stay strong and face 2022 head on! We’ve talked about what to look out for and what to do the next couple months to stay up to date and remember to keep your plan flexible. I wish everyone who reads this the best of luck going into 2022 and keep your business thriving!

Hi there, my name is Quinton Van Beek, I am currently 17 years old and in my senior year of high school. For the past few months, I have been educating myself about business and marketing. Being unsure where I wanted to take my next steps after high school had me searching for what I am really interested in. This led me to a partnership with an agency a few months back to try and make some money and get some experience in the field. Well, it didn’t turn out too well because I didn’t make a dime. However, that led me to ask more questions and take a different approach to this industry, I was then introduced to Samantha, and she took me in as an intern. Since starting at Clarity Marketing in September 2021 I have been given the opportunity to work on amazing projects and I am already learning so much. I’m really focused on moving forward and excited to tackle the next thing that comes my way. Learning from someone like Samantha with over 15 years in the world of marketing has already been inspiring. In the months ahead I hope to continue learning amazing things and accomplishing more projects with the team at Clarity.
