The more things you can offer consumers the bigger your customer base can grow.
Happy October everybody! As we push towards the end of 2022, I thought it would be beneficial to talk about why I believe it’s important to diversify the products/services you or your company offers and how that can impact your business in a very positive way. Obviously, the more things you can offer consumers the bigger your customer base can grow, but you still need to ensure that the products/services you are offering are of a high degree of quality. I believe it’s effective to create different channels in which to deliver value to your consumers, while still relating most of the content back to the service that is your main source of revenue.
For example, my primary service I offer is website creation which takes up the majority of my time and is typically the main thing clients would like my help with. I’ve been in the web design industry for 17 years and over that time I’ve added to my services while still remaining close to my primary industry. Most clients want a high-quality website to reach new consumers and to make the experience of using the website easier and more straight-forward. Keeping that in mind, I started to offer marketing services to clients who wanted help in growing their business and consumer base. I’ve become very familiar in email marketing and social media content creation and now my marketing services are a very sought-after part of my business.
There are countless things you can create with a strong background in web design, and I started to offer clients additional things like logos or business cards. Some clients don’t need a full remodeling of their website, but might require some minor tweaks to upgrade some parts of their company aesthetic. I’ve found offering smaller services like these very beneficial as they don’t require as much time but can still add a lot of value to my clients.
Lastly, I have always believed that I should try and offer advice to businesses that might have questions in regards to what has been successful for me in promoting my company. I offer free webinars every month that discuss a variety of topics that clients can use to enhance some of their current strategies in running their business. I enjoy offering advice in areas that I’m knowledgeable on so clients can use the tips to grow their own business. In the past year, I’ve also created an online course which goes over my tips and suggestions for creating websites using the WorPress platform. People can purchase the course and I outline everything I do to create websites for my clients. The world is getting more digital by the day and I’ve received strong feedback about the usefulness of the course!
All of this is to say, I believe there are strong benefits to diversifying your product mix and offering as many services that you can to your clients. Try and be creative and take your primary product/service and offer it to consumers in a multitude of ways!
